When I try to create a baseline using dxl I got following error.
Baseline b = baseline(0, 1, "")
create(b, "To create baseline through dxl")
-R-E- DXL: <Line:3> cannot create specific baseline
-I- DXL: execution halted
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

You want:
create(nextMajor, "alpha review")

create(nextMajor, "alpha review")
If I use nextMinor or nextMajor then script is working fine. But if I want to create initial baseline using the script:
create(b, "Annotation") is not working. Why?

That depends on what you mean by "initial".
First check, whether any baseline already exists. If not:
If you want the number of the initial baseline to be (0,0,""), use b = suffix ("")
If you want (0,1,"") use b = nextMinor()
If you want (1,0,"") use b = nextMajor()

Re: Creating baseline through dxl script llandale - Tue Dec 06 16:51:57 EST 2011
I have a nagging memory that a "Baseline" handle created with the "baseline(major, minor, suffix)" command is not the same as a "Baseline" handle created with the nextMajor/nextMinor/suffix commands. The "create(Baseline)" command requires the later.
There is some justification for that. The next baseline designation is restricted to one of these:
-
suffix(): current Major-Minor with a new Suffix
-
nextMinor(): current Major with next Minor+1, with or without a Suffix
-
nextMajor(): current Major+1 and Minor=0, with or without a Suffix.
(If you are currently at baseline 5.2(a) you cannot baseline 5.4 nor 7.0.)
So its reasonable to disallow you to specify your own designation when building a baseline.
You can get the nextMinor, then query it for its Major-Minor designations, before you create the baseline; such as confirm("Are you sure you want to create basline " major(b)"."minor(b)"(" suffix(b) ")??")
